Dr. Vinayak K. Pattar is an accomplished scientist, educator, and science communicator whose work bridges the worlds of research, education, and public engagement. He currently serves as the Program & Multimedia Coordinator at the Education Technology Unit and the C.N.R. Rao Hall of Science at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru.

With a strong academic foundation, Dr. Pattar holds an M.Sc. in Physics from Christ University, Bengaluru, and a Ph.D. in Physics from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi.

Dr. Pattar’s research journey has taken him through some of India’s most prestigious scientific institutions. He has served as a Visiting Research Student at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, a Research Fellow at Bangalore University, and an R&D Assistant at the International Centre for Materials Science (ICMS), JNCASR. His research, published in over 45 international journals, spans diverse and advanced areas such as optoelectronics, nanostructured thin films, transport properties of materials, glass science, nano-ferrites, and nano-sensors.

Beyond his contributions to research, Dr. Pattar is deeply committed to science education and outreach. As a dynamic coordinator and educator, he has organized and led more than 100 science outreach programs across India—bringing the excitement of science to schools, colleges, and communities. He has also developed low-cost physics demonstration kits and designed innovative, hands-on learning modules that make scientific concepts accessible and engaging.

His close association with Bharat Ratna Professor C. N. R. Rao and Mrs. Indumati Rao has further enriched his journey. Dr. Pattar plays a key role in coordinating science popularization initiatives, organizing national-level lectures, publishing educational books, and creating multimedia learning tools that extend the reach of science beyond classrooms. He also translated the book Founders of Modern Science in India (Written by Professor C.N.R. Rao and Mrs. Induamti Rao) into Kannada (ಕನ್ನಡ), expanding its accessibility to regional readers.

An adept communicator, Dr. Pattar combines his expertise in science and technology with creativity in multimedia. He has designed interactive audiovisual content, virtual science tours, and digital exhibits that enhance learning experiences and promote curiosity-driven education. His contributions to teacher training programs, institutional visits, and student engagement activities have made him a recognized name in the field of science communication.
